ASSENDELFTER
The Assendelfter style of painting dates from the 18th century in the Netherlands. This style is painted with a multi-loaded brush and is typified by brilliantly coloured flowers such as roses, irises, quince blossoms and tulips, often featuring birds as part of the design. Some very early pieces now found in museums had a strong biblical content. Master painter and art historian, Jacques Zuidema was responsible for reviving the style in modern times.
