BAROQUE

The Baroque style arose in Europe during the early 17th to mid 18th centuries.  This symmetrical style is typified by the use of bold, curving forms and elaborate decoration, both in art and architecture.  Religious and heroic painting subjects were popular, depicted with great drama in rich, deep colours.
