FABRIC PAINTING

Painting on fabric can be done using specialized fabric paints, dyes or acrylic paints to which textile medium has been added.  Once dry, the paints are usually heat-set following the manufacturer’s instructions.  Many different effects can be achieved using varying strengths of paint, additives and different fabrics.  Paint can be applied in washes, “wet in wet”, “wet on dry” and with other methods using brushes, sponges, airbrushes and print blocks.
