PEN & WASH

This delicate technique is used by watercolorists as well as decorative artists.  Acrylic paints are diluted with either water or a drying retarder to apply washes to the surface, then shading is applied.  Outlining with a permanent, waterproof pen is applied either prior to painting or after the paint is dry.
