Memory Box painting is held on Sunday morning between 10am and 12.30pm, prior to the general meeting in February, April, June, August and October.
Boxes, donated by the Visy Board Corporation are painted by society members and guests and in turn donated to local hospitals and perinatal bereavement programs. These are for distribution to parents in the event of a baby’s death for what ever reason, examples, miscarriage, stillbirth or SIDS.
These boxes are gratefully received by grieving families as a place to keep their most precious mementos of a baby they will not be taking home. Cardboard tubes are also painted to hold the naming certificates for the deceased babies. These are also forwarded to the hospitals for distribution.
We need all the help we can come by because of the staggering number of boxes required which is approximately 200 per week. Unfortunately we are unable to meet this demand and concentrate on the local Melbourne area.
Guest artists come along to share their painting expertise and teach new techniques during these sessions which are enjoyed by all participants. Paints and boxes supplied. Just bring your brushes. You need not be a member to participate in these painting sessions. A very worthy cause, come join us, enjoy the company and painting.
