CRITERIA for ROYAL MELB SHOW
  • Framed exhibits are acceptable but please note as all eligible criteria may not be met fewer marks may be awarded.
  • No restriction on base materials. Identifying marks or signatures must be covered.
  • Seminar, workshop and class pieces not eligible for entry.
  • Original design taken into account.
  • Statement of originality to be supplied with exhibit at time of delivery, not with entry form.
  • Thorough preparation and even finishing are vital in Show pieces. Please ensure pieces are very smooth before paint is applied.
  • Consider decorating inner and under surfaces of piece.
  • Exhibitors in Master class may not enter the same style in another Folk Art class but may enter other classes using a different style or technique.
  • Restricted to items that can be handled easily by one person.

ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW 2008

Thursday 18th September through to Sunday 28th September 2008

Come on members – get your brushes out and your favourite surface and start painting! Enter a project in the Folk Art Section in the Royal Melbourne Show.


THEME
The theme this year is “REGENERATION”: after the devastation of the drought and ensuing floods – Renewal of a Nation, showing that hope and the Australian spirit is reborn. The committee of the RMS have advised that an award will be given to the People’s Choice of the best exhibit depicting REGENERATION selected from the Art and Craft Open Competitions.
DUE DATES
Entry form and fees must be received no later than Friday 25th July 2008. Enter and pay before 26th June to receive $1 discount on entry fees (not applicable for Restricted and Junior & School Competitions).

ENTRY CLASSES

Class 85, Junior Folk Art.
Open to exhibitors under the age of 18 years as at the first day of the Royal Melbourne Show. Age to be supplied on entry form.
Class 86, Novice Folk Art
An Exhibitor with no more then two years experience in Folk Art and who has not won a 1st prize in that section at any Royal Show.
Class 87, Traditional
Including Baroque, Hindeloopen, Intarsia, Naïve, Bauernmalerei Rosemaling, Russian Floral etc.
Class 88, Decorative
Excluding Christmas theme
Class 89
Australian theme
Class 90
Christmas theme
