Welcome to SFDAV
The Society of Folk & Decorative Artists of Victoria is a group of folk and decorative artists who (in normal circumstances) meet every month on the 4th Sunday excluding December and January. So far in 2020 we have only been able to have one meeting - February 23rd, but now COVID restrictions are easing we are able to have a meeting on 29 November 2020.
Our Mission is to create a sharing and caring Society where decorative painters of all levels, abilities and ages come together to share a mutual love of Folk and Decorative Art.
For the months of February, April, June, August, & October each year, a guest speaker or event will follow the general meeting. For the opposite months of March, May, July, September & November, workshop/s are held by visiting or member tutors.
Heleen Van der Haar sent us this photo of her latest 2020 project, a guitar adorned with beautiful roses and the sheet music for "Are You Lonesome Tonight", which was sort of apt when we were in lockdown in Victoria. Thank you for the photos Heleen.
Denise Illingworth has been busy again, This time designing and painting koala themed Christmas wreath and placemats for her great grandson. The wreath is pictured and the placemats are in our galleries page. All this tells us that Christmas is just around the corner.
If members have images they would like to share, please email them and they will be highlighted on the web page and Facebook. As we have no current workshop pieces to share, it would be great to see what members have been doing, during the lockdown period.
We're very excited to announce that we are able to resume our meetings at H. V. Jones Hall now that Covid restrictions are easing. At 12 noon on 29th November 2020, we will hold our Annual General Meeting followed by a Christmas lunch. We are limited to 20 people in attendance, so any member who is interested in attending, please book at ASAP.
