Welcome to SFDAV

The Society of Folk & Decorative Artists of Victoria is a group of folk and decorative artists who meet every month on the 4th Sunday excluding December and January.

Our Mission is to create a sharing and caring Society where decorative painters of all levels, abilities and ages come together to share a mutual love of Folk and Decorative Art.

For the months of February, April, June, August, & October each year, a guest speaker or event will follow the general meeting.  For the opposite months of March, May, July, September & November, workshop/s are held by visiting or member tutors.

Thank you to Jackie Quenette who gave us a wonderful talk on Sunday 26 June 2022 about her artist aunt, Florence Thibaut.  Florence lives in Dunkirk and after retiring from teaching in her sixties, she pursued her passion for creating gorgeous colourful paintings.  One of her pieces is hanging in the Louvre and she has had several exhibitions in Paris and New York.  Pictured is Jackie holding a painting which her aunt did when only 12years old.  See our galleries page for more of Florence's work and our own Show and Tell!

We are very sorry to report that Society stalwart and teacher, Kathy Prestegar is currently quite ill in hospital.  We are sending her all our love and best wishes at this challenging time.  Kathy is teaching our July workshop, but this may have to be cancelled.  We will let members know closer to the date.

Hang in there Kathy!

We also need to remind members that membership renewal is now due.
